Itinerary

Day 1 - Saturday February 18th

Plan to arrive into Cambodia's Siem Reap airport (REP) by 4pm. From there you'll be picked up by private driver and taken to our hotel in the heart of the city. We'll enjoy a delicious array of appetizers while we get to know each other and talk about the amazing things in store for the week ahead.  After our welcome, the night is yours to explore the bustling city or turn in early to prepare for our exciting week of exploring Cambodia!
*Note that flights from the US will require a departure date of February 16th or 17th to make this arrival time.
Welcome appetizers included
Overnight in Siem Reap

Day 2 - Sunday February 19th

Today we wake up early to experience a full day of immersing ourselves in the Cambodian way of life.  We'll make our way to nearby Tonle Sap lake. This great lake covering 1,000 square miles (2,600 square kilometers) is not only the largest body of fresh water in Southeast Asia, it’s also a UNESCO-designated biosphere due to its remarkable natural features. The flow of water in Tonlé Sap changes direction twice during the course of the year, expanding and contracting with the seasons.  We'll et sail for a scenic cruise around the lake aboard a traditional longtail boat and drift through the floating village of Chong Khneas, stopping to admire the lotus fields and peek into a crocodile and fish farm along the way. Finally, arrive at the Tara floating restaurant, where you can tuck into a delicious meal, sip complimentary cocktails and relax in a hammock as you soak up the views.
Breakfast included
Overnight in Siem Reap

Day 3 - Monday February 20th
After a leisurely breakfast at our hotel, we'll take a luxury bus ride to Battambang
, an often overlooked city.  It’s bustling yet friendly and interesting without being overwhelming. Underneath its sleepy persona is a bubbling undercurrent of creativity with a smattering of arty boutique hotels, quirky cafés and innovative restaurants among it's urban draws, while the lush surrounding countryside is ideal for excursions.  We'll settle in to our beautiful resort and enjoy an evening relaxing by the pool.
Breakfast included
Overnight in Battambang

Day 4 - Tuesday February 21st
We will begin
our day with a sightseeing tour around the city of Battambang along the Steung Sangké river.  We'll pass Battambang's gorgeous French colonial buildings on the way to Odam Bang village. From there, we'll take a bamboo train through the region's rice paddies. This province is known as the country's “rice barn” as it is the leading rice-producing province in Cambodia. After enjoying a picnic lunch, we'll head to the pretty village of Wat Kor and the hilltop temples of Phnom Sampeau and Phnom Banan. The area's limestone hills are dissected by a number of caves, and some still contain unexpected reminders of Cambodia's horrific Khmer Rouge regime. Travel back along the Steung Sangké river and discover the region's tropical fruit orchards and vegetables planted along the fertile riverbanks of Steung Sangké river on the way back to our resort.
Breakfast and lunch included
Overnight in Battambang

Day 5 - Wednesday February 22nd

Today will be a free day you can spend however you please.  Whether you want to relax at our resort, enjoy a massage, or spend time exploring the countryside, there's something for everyone!

Day 6 - Thursday February 23rd

Today we'll board our luxury bus to return to Siem Reap.  We'll be staying at a beautiful resort hotel in the heart of the city for our last few days of this trip so we can take the time to settle in and relax this evening.
Breakfast included
Overnight in Siem Reap

Day 7 - Friday February 24th

There will be a special treat waiting for us today.  We will journey to the ancient Angkor Wat complex to discover the world's largest religious monument; including its forested area that spreads over 155 square miles. We'll start with a visit to this national symbol of Cambodia and marvel at its architectural grandeur as well as its ancient shrines featuring traditional Khmer designs, unique sculptures, and intricate carvings. Next, we'll visit the last-known capital of the Khmer Empire, Angkor Thom and wander around this ancient walled city where as we enter through the massive south gates we'll be greeted by lines of statues of demons and gods, each carrying a giant naga (a snake-like deity). We'll continue to Terrace of the Elephants and Terrace of the Leper King, used as a viewing platform and a royal cremation site by the Angkor King Jayavarman VII. Afterward we'll explore Bayon, featuring distinctive stone structures influenced by Baroque-inspired Khmer architecture.  We'll break for a delicious lunch before visiting the historic Banteay Kdei temple and picturesque Ta Prohm.
Breakfast included
Overnight in Siem Reap

Day 8 - Saturday February 25th

Today we'll take a morning tour to Banteay Srei. Considered by many to be the jewel in the crown of Angkorian art, Banteay Srei is cut from stone of a pinkish hue and includes some of the finest stone carving anywhere on earth. Begun in 967 CE, it is one of the smallest sites at Angkor, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in stature. The art gallery of Angkor, this Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva is wonderfully well preserved, and many of its carvings are three-dimensional. We'll take our time exploring the beautiful temples outside of the Angkor complex before heading back to our hotel to get ready for a good bye dinner where we'll reminisce on all of the amazing things we were able to see and do during our time in beautiful Cambodia.
